When we arrived in the village, they washed all of our feet. Wow. I mean that's hospitality.

Then they dressed us in traditional dress and put flower garlands around our necks. Don't we look good?

Afterwards, they fed us. This may be the first time I've shown a photo of a traditional meal. The white stuff is rice. The green stuff is greens (like collard greens but better cause I actually like them here and my kids eat them like crazy). Around from the greens is chicken. Village chicken is the BEST! And finally around from that are potatoes. Not pictured is a small bowl of lentils that you pour over your rice. All this is eaten with your hands. The volunteers were awesome and tried all the foods that they were served. We were so proud and thankful
for their willingness to step out of their comfort zone, try totally new foods and eat with their hands.
JT had to give a little lesson on how to mix it all together and actually get it up to the mouth. It can be a problem getting the rice from the plate to the mouth without abundant spillage, but he is our family expert. He eats just like a native!
