Spy Day!

Spy Day rounded out our birthday week activities. We did lots of fun spy stuff at the 'Spears Spy Training Center'. No spy would be complete without his name badge including fingerprints, birthday and blood type always attached to him during training. Below, Charlie and Jon Thomas show off their ID badges.

Spy training began with gun safety and gun use instruction by super spy instructor, Agent Dad. The kids gave him their undivided attention as he demonstrated the correct way to hold and fire a very dangerous, plastic bee bee shooting handgun.

I hope you can look closely enough in this picture to take note that this is practice for crawling into spaces that are protected by laser security systems. You had to get through the maze without touching any of the lasers. This was a very difficult portion of the training.

Once each recruit made it through the lasers, they retrieved a bomb that needed to be defused. Once the explosives were properly disposed of, we all realized that inside they held our delicious spy snack - caramel popcorn balls.

There was also practice with various methods of making and exposing invisible ink, but I couldn't photograph that for security reasons.

After spy training, the kids enjoyed Jackie Chan in 'The Spy Next Door' while the adults visited, and Jonathan grilled chicken, vegetables and potatoes for us. De-licious!
