Interesting . . .

Last week, Jonathan made a new friend in a town about an hour away from us. After the guys chatted for a while, they made plans for our family to come visit them for a little program they were having. Jonathan got the guy's phone number and came home to tell me about the plans for Saturday. On the Friday before, Jonathan phoned our friend to let him know we were still planning to come (understand - this is speaking in a foreign language on the phone which is INFINITELY more difficult than speaking to someone face to face). New friend says, 'No, tomorrow is not good, we are going to the doctor so come for the program on Sunday.' We change our plans to go to our new friend's house on Sunday instead. We didn't know where he lived, so we arranged to meet him at a gas station. We arrive at said meeting destination and give the guy a call. A lady answers - I cannot understand two words of what she is saying. Perhaps it is another foreign language that I don't know. So, we wait, hoping that our friend is on his way. After 30 minutes, we decide he isn't coming, so we head to the local market to check things out. On our way, the phone rings. It is our friend who tells us that he is at the hospital and could we please come to see him. Click (that was him hanging up). This is one hour away from our home. We have no IDEA how to get to the hospital. So we came up with the next best solution, call another friend to find out what is going on. Well, we found out all right. Jonathan's new friend had written his phone number down incorrectly so we have been talking to 'who knows who' periodically for three days. Who talks to a total stranger on the phone and changes their plans for them? After we realized the mix up and laughed about not knowing who in the world we were talking to, we had a fun day hanging out with both new friend and old friend. I think I've said before that things here are ALWAYS unexpected!
