When our friends were here visiting from a neighboring country, they did a very nice thing and let the parental units of this family go out for a day ALONE. While we were out gallivanting around town, our friends and our kids were having the time of their lives playing 'movie day'. It was an awesome set-up, and I promised the kids I would reproduce it for them another day.
We decided that we would let our Austrian friends in on our fun, so we invited them over for movie day at The Spears Movie Theater. After we finished schooling for the day, we spent some of the afternoon shopping for concessions, choosing the perfect movie and rearranging our house to become the official cinema hall. Jon Thomas was in charge of selling and punching tickets while Charlie and I worked the concession stand. We offered a variety of snacks including Frootis (a mango juice box), Coke, Sprite, popcorn, candy, chips and lollipops. We even used our Monopoly money for the tickets and snacks. However, that produced some questions because we live in a country that uses Rupees, our kids are used to dollars and the Austrian kids know about Euros. We weren't really sure which currency we were dealing with?!?! Once we moved through that problem, we were set. The kids had a blast playing movie, and we all agreed that next time, we might consider doing a double feature!
Jon Thomas took his job as ticket seller VERY seriously. No one got a discount!
Concession stand mania!!! We even had an intermission due to equipment malfunction for a reload of snacks from the concession stand!
